We have had a fun first few weeks of school in music! The students have been playing name games, practicing keeping the steady beat,, reviewing notes and rests, and performing correct technique on multiple instruments.
Fifth grade students learned a nonsense song called "Sarasponda" then practiced a rather complex partner rhythm stick game which included tapping, crossing, and even tossing rhythm sticks! This all wrapped into a review of what steady beat is versus rhythm, and how the two pieces fit together in a piece of music. The students did a great job working with their partners to overcome challenges and have fun (see pictures below)!
