We've been learning lots of new concepts, practicing new and old skills, and having lots of fun in music class this fall! Here is a few of the many activities students have done in the last two months.... The fourth graders played an elimination-style game called Bulldog that focused on the steady beat. The last student clapped was "out" and grabbed an instrument to play for the rest of the game. The students had a lot of fun with this one! Above: Third graders danced a Mexican folk dance called "La Raspa." This dance allowed students to practice showing AB, which is a song that has two different parts. Second graders played a fun game with barred instruments called "Charlie Over the Ocean." One student tapped others in the circle as instrument players played the steady beat accompaniment to the song. The last student tapped chased the "tapper" around the circle to try to tag them! Students in 1st grade reviewed how to play the hand drum, guiro, and cowbell then played a game called "Apple Tree" while students took turns playing the instruments. |
